Gaming giant Razer™ relies on haptics made in Austria

Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, just released the newest generation of their popular Naga series. The Razer Naga V2 Pro introduces freely programmable haptic feedback of the scroll wheel thanks to the new Razer™ HyperScroll Pro Wheel powered by XeelTech. By partnering up with XeelTech, the joint venture of Upper Austria-based STIWA Group and Vorarlberg-based development company INVENTUS, Razer enhances its HyperScroll Technology with innovative haptics made in Austria.

The Razer™ Naga V2 Pro comes with a set of 12, 6, and 2-button magnetic side plates. This allows it to adapt to any game genre and provide up to 22 programmable controls.

International collaboration leads to a whole new level of gaming immersion

Razer is a pioneer in integrating haptic feedback into gaming devices. With the new Razer Naga V2 Pro with HyperScroll Pro Wheel powered by XeelTech, Razer launches a mouse with next-gen scroll feel and an unprecedented level of customizability. For the implementation of haptics in the mouse wheel, Razer teamed up with XeelTech. XeelTech is the global expert for smart haptic feedback knobs. The newest HyperScroll Pro Wheel allows users to toggle between 6 different scroll modes with the push of a button. But what makes the new Razer Naga V2 Pro stand out is the possibility to fully customize the scroll feel. Users can adjust steps, tension, and the force curve using the Razer Synapse Software.

Magnetized iron particles create customizable haptic feedback

The secret of the freely programmable scroll feel of Razer’s HyperScroll Pro Wheel lies within XeelTech’s patented technology. “For our haptic feedback encoder, we make use of so-called magneto-rheological material (MRM). This smart material consists of ultra-fine iron particles. When these particles are exposed to a magnetic field, they link and thus block the rotation of the device. By manipulating the magnetic field and with it the characteristics of the iron particles inside, we can change the haptic feedback a user feels in real-time. After years of development, this cooperation with Razer marks a major milestone for our technology and XeelTech as a whole,” says Stefan Battlogg, XeelTech CEO.
