HAPTICORE Eval Kit

You have just received your HAPTICORE Eval Kit and are ready to get started?

In the following sections, we will guide you through the setup of your HAPTICORE Eval Kit so you can experience our freely programmable haptic feedback and create your own haptic patterns with our software solutions.

Set up your HAPTICORE Eval Kit

Assemble Eval Kit

Make sure you have all the parts included in the kit ready.

Download & install VCP driver

To connect your Eval Kit, download the latest version of the VCP driver.

Download software bundle

Download the HAPTICORE software bundle from our download center.

Check device connection

Start the HAPTICORE Xperience demo software and check the connection status of the device.

Update firmware if necessary

If you have problems connecting your Eval Kit, check if a firmware update is necessary.

Step 1

Assemble Eval Kit

To set up your HAPTICORE Eval Kit, please make sure you have all the parts included in the kit ready.

This includes the HAPTICORE rotary haptic actuator in the Eval Kit mount, a 6-pin adapter cable, the HAPTICORE Control Unit Pro, and a USB-C cable to connect to your PC. The Control Unit Pro also comes with a 12 V power supply with various country-specific plugs.

Now you are ready to connect the accessories:

  1. Connect the 6-pin cable of the rotary haptic actuator of the Eval Kit to the Control Unit Pro.
  2. Connect the 12 V power supply to the Control Unit Pro.
  3. Connect the Control Unit Pro to your PC via the USB-C to USB-A cable.

Step 2

Download & install the VCP driver

Once you have connected the Eval Kit to your PC, you need to install the correct driver in order to use our HAPTICORE software solutions. Therefore, download the latest version of the VCP driver from the official website of the chip manufacturer Silicon Labs.

Step 3

Download HAPTICORE software bundle

Download the HAPTICORE software bundle from our download center.

The bundle contains:

In the folder, you will also find the documentation as well as the latest firmware and the software license.

By downloading our software bundle, you agree to the terms and conditions stated in the Software Licence Agreement – Eval Kits.

Minimum system requirements

  • Windows 7 or newer
  • .NET Framework 4.6 installed on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 (preinstalled on Windows 10)

Step 4

Check device connection

Once you have downloaded the HAPTICORE software bundle, extract the .zip file and navigate to the HAPTICORE Xperience application folder (Software / HAPTICORE Xperience x.x.x).

  1. Start the “HAPTICORE Xperience” application.
  2. Make sure the USB cable is connected to your device and the HAPTICORE Control Unit is connected to the 12V power supply.
  3. If you already connected your setup before, the connection should be established automatically. The connection state is shown in the top right corner.
  4. In case the USB icon is marked with a yellow error tag, click on the icon and select “Scan for Devices” in the pop-up window.
  5. As soon as the Eval Kit has been detected, the icon shows the number of connected Eval Kits.

Step 5

Update firmware if necessary

Before shipping, all of our Eval Kits are checked and updated with the latest firmware version. However, if you have not used your Eval Kit for a long time, or have problems connecting your HAPTICORE Eval Kit, please check if the latest firmware is installed.

To check and update the latest firmware version, please follow the steps described in the documentation of our HAPTICORE Firmware Updater.

You can find both the latest firmware and HAPTICORE Firmware Updater in the software bundle.
